James (aka Jimmy) Mortimore was appointed to the Board of Directors to represent the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) members on the Board of Directors in November 2022. James has been a Game Warden with NDOW since 2019 and is currently based out of Carson City.

James has been a member of NPU since 2019 but became more involved by serving as a Steward and as part of the Collective Bargaining Committee. He accepted the position of Board member with the idea to improve working conditions for all state police officers and to better understand the rights officers are entitled to as an employee and to protect those rights.

James enjoys being outdoors hunting, fishing and camping whenever he gets the chance. He knows where all the birds, big bucks and best fishing holes are so feel free to shoot him a call or text if you need help planning your next trip.

Jennifer Johnson works for Parole and Probation in Las Vegas and is currently in the Interstate Compact Unit. She is a firearms instructor and a MACTAC instructor. Jennifer has been in law enforcement and a member of NPU since 2018. Prior to her state service, she worked in private corrections and was a substance abuse counselor. Jennifer became an NPU steward in 2021 and was appointed to the Board in August 2022 due to a vacant position. She also serves on the Collective Bargaining Committee and the Labor Relations Committee.

Jennifer became a steward as she wanted to get involved and advocate for members. Jennifer would like to see NPU get through the “growth stage” where NPU is fighting big and small battles regarding the CBA and getting Departments to understand and honor it to the point where more focus is on representation as needed and member appreciation events.

When she isn’t working or fulfilling her NPU duties, Jennifer enjoys going to concerts, being in the mountains, camping, and traveling.

He would love to grow NPU by getting our name out there and having more and more Troopers and Officers sign up.
